Techoca’s Dragon Tail Trip
Prelude to the Dragon Trail:
My Faux-Pro came in this afternoon so I quickly fabricated a removable mount for the dash, it works great.
Got to love the brand of Faux-Pro.
Dragon touch, lol

Nice mount idea. Looking forward to seeing trip highlights. Just take it slow on the tail, I hear you can't have any fun through the curves, too much 5-0 patrol.

...did it on a Harley trike in the fall of '16. Moonshiner 28 and Cherohala(sp?) Skyway are great drives too, also up the Smoky's to Clingman's Dome. Watch out for the people coming left of center, they can be the hardest ones to avoid, if at all. Take it easy, enjoy the ride!

Have a great trip! I've ridden the Tail on motorcycle (Harley Road Glide) a couple of times, most recently last year. I hope your weather is as clear and dry as what we had. Also, not sure how much time you have, but I think you will enjoy driving other roads around there even more. Try and get out on the Cherohala Skyway and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Have fun! Looking forward to seeing your pics and videos.
And, BTW, In case you didn't know, there are professional photographers positioned along the Tail snapping pics, so mark down your start time so you can visit their sites and find them more easily.

I did tail of the dragon on my Ducati back in, err...2008/9 I think. The road itself is ok, usually too many idiots there for me to feel comfortable but the scenery is breathtaking. I also recommend the Cherohala skyway as long as you don't get vertigo from heights =)
There used to be an icecream place exactly 100 miles from the start of the Cherohala (coming from Deals Gap). I seem to recall that the icecream was great. I won't say how long it took use to get there though :-p
In any case, have a fun trip! I hope that it is safe and enjoyable.

Dragon Slayer!
Thanks to everyone for the comments, I will definitely do Cherohala Skyway next trip. We had a blast, were blessed with great weather and NO traffic on the Tail. I came up on a Trailblazer on the first run from NC to Tn, he immediately moved into a pull off, great timing. On the run back I got behind a Mustang GT, he didn’t want to run like I was and quickly and moved into a pull off - bye bye. I never had another vehicle in front of me on either run. I drove it like I stole it, totally awesome to have a 4 speed behind the 383. It’s probably a good thing I don’t live closer, I would likely be 10-95 to the county lockup.
The suspension and driveline work that I did to the car over the winter performed very well and I could not be happier.
My son and I had so much fun, it was a great day for Dad, it’s a different deal when the kids get married and move away, such a blessing to get to spend that kind of time with him.
My son took the video for editing and I will post it up as soon as he gets done with it.
Parksville Dam, Hwy 64, Polk County TN, in route

The poor guy, I slung him around while I was snug in the 5 point harness, I regret not re installing the passenger harness.
