Original antenna or not
Never new there was an alternate antenna to the usual chrome mast so I assumed that the black 3 section retractable antenna on this recently acquired 71 LT-1 was a aftermarket fitment. Gathering missing parts and added a new and typical antenna to the list then thumbing through the NCRS tech guide noticed the passage below:
And this is the earliest pic I have confirming this same antenna although slightly retracted:
So can anyone confirm if the original alternate antenna was this type please ?

I believe this is the antenna you're referring too?
Years ago, we ordered 5 of these for stock, as they were listed in the Corvette Parts Book as 69-70 Corvette antennas. When they came in, we were shocked to find that they weren't the 69 up fixed masts that we expected. At the time, we were getting our Corvette parts through a Pontiac dealer, because he sold to us for 5 over cost, while the local Chevy store wanted 10 over. The only catch was that we could only return faulty or damaged parts, we had to keep anything we ordered wrong. I later learned that these were used on an assortment of late 60's GM cars, but could never find anything anywhere suggesting that they were used on Corvettes. Recently a friend mentioned the NCRS Manual referring to a three piece antenna being used on some 70 Corvettes. I assume this is why they were listed in the Corvette Parts Book, and why we ended up with them. The part number on them is 3934224.
