Not sure about the 1977, but there were no optional floor mats on the early vettes (my 72 for example.) Dealers sold some rubber floor mats with a Corvette emblem, but it was not a factory option.

Back in the 70s, floor mats were not typically provided by the manufacturer like they are today. When we bought a car back then the first thing we did was go to an auto parts store and buy some rubber or vinyl floor mats.

I just looked up the options list for a 1977 and floor mats were not listed. I guess it could be wrong, but I suspect it was correct.

Yes those are the 1977 optional color keyed floor mats for Black & Buckskin interior.
My original invoice says 7YB32 (Black) suggested retail $22.00 dealer invoice $16.94. There were 4 colors available, the hard ones to find are Blue. E-bay auction ended a few days ago new in boxes $100.00 & free shipping. That's a fair price shipped.

1977 was the first year factory installed floor mats were available as an option. Prior to 77, clear vinyl and black rubber mats were available, but only as a dealer installed option. Over 36,000 77's were ordered with floor maps. In 78 and 79, floor mats were included as part of the Convenience Group, and mats became standard in 1980.

I'm not sure if the mats pictured are GM mats, or aftermarket "Coco" type mats? I thought the 77 mats used the same plush style carpet, as the carpet in the car? I know 78-82 mats were made using the same carpet as the rest of the interior.

As I understood those were 77 only, I was looking to buy some a while back but didn’t get them, I ended up with a NOS set from a closed dealership for a 78 and they are all carpet. I thought I had read somewhere there was some issue with them when new which is what prompted the change in 78. Regardless nice find, what’s your plans for the brown set if I may ask?

Guys... I can tell you .... they are the real deal.

I have boxes of these things and usually the carpet is pulling away from the rubber backing and there were several variations of this mat from 1977-1982.

I still have the original Willcox Chevy accessory catalogs for the numbers we used to order them under. But I'd need the part numbers off the boxes to verify what year the exact fit was.

Seems to me that the 77 cars had the speckled mats and later didn't. (78-82) but I'd have to check this to be sure.

All in all, they were a horrible product for us because like I said above, most of them came apart because they were rolled up in this tiny accessory box and the glue didn't hold on the edges so most customers would just re-glue them and they would be fine. With glues that are available today I'd probably use weldwood glue which is the same stuff we use on soft tops and many various applications. You can glue water to oil with this stuff, it's relentless.

I plan on getting ride of these and I've probably got 100 sets still in stock in the original boxes. (Sorry but Black was sold out a long time ago)... Maybe I'll make that a project soon and get them out and catalog them. I also have some NOS luggage racks I plan on selling soon too. They are just eating space for me.

My 77 was purchased on 8/18/1977 with the 7YB32 floor mat option. By October 1977 for some reason new floor mats were purchased. Defective floor mats, who knows. I think these were the same rubber cross-flag mats Crawfish talked about. Also on the back cover of the Dealer Brochure options, "Floor mats with multi-color carpet inserts".
Little History...

My god that number brings back memories.. 994401 was the original part number for the rubber mats. To confirm this I have the accessory catalogs and our original swap meet books pdf'd. So I logged in my office to confirm this.

What's funny is that the reproductions being produced today aside from the logo on the back are pretty much spot on. I had a set of originals I sold on eBay about 15 years ago and documented the originals vs. the reproductions. I don't remember the logo on the back but with some digging I could possibly produce the pics I took but I'm not sure.

Awesome you have that receipt.
