1976 Radio/TCS Circuit Issues
I have an 11,000 original miles 1976 that I recently put on the road for the first time since the early 1990's. Today I noticed that the radio wasn't working and that the interior courtesy lights also weren't working. I used a test light to back probe the harness plug connector feeding the radio and the yellow wire is hot. I also probed the courtesy light sockets and they WERE NOT hot. When I turn the radio on I don't even hear static, etc.....its like it's completely dead. The 20 amp fuse is good and I've got electrical flow across it. Where do I start troubleshooting this?

On my car the courtesy lights and the radio are on a different circuits and fuses so you may be dealing with two different issues. If the radio has power and ground then it seems like the radio it self has an issue. Does the radio light up when turned on? Courtesy lights go thru switches so you may want to check that they are working...may be rusty due to non use or missing a ground. Get the schematic for your fuse block and car's wiring and you can start to trace out the circuits.

The radio does not light up when switched on. Guess I'll start by trying to locate and check the common chassis grounds. Any help on the locations of those would be appreciated.
