Default 1977 hot feet !

Feet get pretty warm, due to headers I guess, has new carpet, but PO, did not put any other insulation down except what is on back of carpet. Is it worth putting more under the feet well area.
Thanks

I bet some of that cabin heat is from a faulty heater hose control valve. Instead of having a steel cable to control the valve from the dash, some engineer thought that a vacuum line would work. You can install a manual shutoff for summer usage in one of the heater hoses easy enough.

You may want to peel back some of front carpet portions and install Dynamat underneath.

I would avoid any header wrap for your issue, as they tend to retain moisture after cool-down. Then you get rusty headers and voiding any warranty on the header.

These help a lot on the pipes below the seats
I think that should be 6” x 1 ft. They have 2 ft also

Those do work great, I installed one because the speedo cable was resting on the pipe and started to melt!

If your headers are not ceramic coated dont bother. I have sprayed the underside of my car with heat insulator, added reflectix under the carpet and factory insulation, removed heater hoses and blocked off heater core, unplugged blower motor and my feet still get hot as hell. I measured 118* at the gas pedal Sat. when I took the car out. Im done messing around and the headers on the car will be removed and wrapped, if they rust oh well, ill buy stainless next time and wrap them also. If you have seached you have seen all the threads about this issue and no one has solved the issue without wrapping the exhaust. Even vents in the hood make minimal different inside the car.

I did the insulation under the carpet and up the inside of the firewall, the clamp on shields shown above, the shutoff valve in the heater hoses, and the collar for the top of the
trans, just behind the firewall.

All these put together plus any factory shielding under the car, and my 77 interior is now heat free.

Those clamp on pipe shields really do help.
