1969 fuel door spring ?
My 1969 fuel door flops around. I'd like it so snap shut smartly or... something!!!
Assuming this is an original, is there a spring somewhere that is missing ?

Your 69 shouldn't have a spring on the door. They (up till 70 I think) had a latch that sort of held it closed. After that they went to the spring (which will fit yours if you switched)

There is a notch in the ring part of the bezel to receive the latch
then they switched to a spring loaded door with no latch
The curved spring is at the back of the hinge and the notch is no longer at the front and they added the two rubber bumpers

Mine does not have a spring. See that squiggly thing (technical term) to the left of "gas door plate" in the above top photo? That is what mine has and it snaps into the chrome trim ring.

The curved spring that attaches to the back of the hinge, is used on 71-82 gas door assemblies. 68-70 gas door bezels have a spring on the underside of the bezel, that holds the door open, and the gas door itself has a spring steel clip that snaps into the bezel, to hold the door closed.
The spring that holds the door open is under the bezel, and the hinge snaps into it when the door is open. These springs were held in place by hollow rivets that were cast into the bezel, and peened over to hold the spring in place. These springs often broke loose, and there is no way to replace them, except to buy a new gas door bezel. The spring is under the area where the part numbers can be seen in the middle picture in Mooser's post above.
The clip that holds the 68-70 door closed is also attached by hollow rivets that are cast into the door, and like the hinge spring, are prone to breaking off. Like the spring on the bezel, the only way I know you can replace the clip, is to replace the whole door. The 68-70 gas door with the clip, can be seen at the link below.
