Hello to all Corvette Forum members.
I have owned two Corvettes in the past. First was a 1966 Convertible 427, 4 speed, which was a beast to keep on the road. Kept it for five years, and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was back in the early 1970s. Later on in the 80's bought a 1969 Lemans Blue with matching interior, Tee-top coupe with a 350 350 hp and turbo 400 automatic.
Drove that one as my DD for nine years every day, summer, winter spring and fall. Cracked the block racing a Porsch. Rebuilt the engine in my garage with a friend, after locating another block.
Now I'm driving a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, and love it. Have gotten the urge to find another chrome bumper C3, to drive in the summer. I have been looking for awhile, but very difficult to find anything near me, (Chicago area). I'm hoping some of the Corvette Forum members may come across one that will work for this 71 year old man. Really want a 4 speed, coupe in decent driver quality condition.
Thanks for reading my gibberish.

Welcome to the forums! Be prepared for 25% information, 75% BS :-p
I am certain that what you are looking for is out there and it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend. Also, do not restrict yourself to your local area. One of the great things about this forum is that there is usually a helpful, knowledgeable person located anywhere near where you might be looking at a car.
Many people here purchase a car that is not local to them and ask for assistance for someone to go and check it out for them. As far as I know, this has worked successfully here on many occasions. If you happen to find one in Connecticut I would be happy to go and take a look at it for you.
Best of luck with your search and again, welcome to the forums!

Welcome, nice ride that G8. My brother had one and my son currently has a 2015 Chevy SS with a stick, besides his Corvette. Sounds like you're an old fart like me whose not afraid to get dirty, so you'll fit right in. Keep looking, one will turn up

Welcome to the forum!! Keep looking and you'll find your chromie. You probably already know this, but the '10 rules' in the sticky section is a must place to begin. You'll also find what I have - the forum members are really helpful and a great bunch of enthusiasts. When you find one, post some pics and questions, and you'll get help right away. But be prepared for something else - it gets in your blood and you'll have a new addiction.

To the OP, Welcome aboard, were you winning the race when you cracked your block???
We have a pretty good for sale section and the prices are very reasonabe and below what you would see on craigslist for a comparable car. I'm sure someone will post up soon from that area and are you willing to travel to look at a car, if so how far?

Proof reading. Posts can be edited. Thread titles can only be edited by moderators. OK, OP, you probably already know this but the more you spend up front the less you spend overall. Provided you get a car worth what you are paying. A 5k car will cost 50k to turn into a 25-30k car. AND you will be spending all your time working on it (or waiting for somebody else to work on it) and little to no time with shifter and wheel in each hand. ESPECIALLY BODY AND PAINT! It is cheaper and easier to buy a car with no drivetrain that has nice paint than a beat body with rebuilt everything under the hood. Oh yeah: welcome aboard. But start shopping by checking out the Craigslist bombs local to you. These cars have aged since last you messed with one. This will give you an idea what to look for to avoid. Also, birdcage rust. Post 107 has a reprint of the orig 1st post in this thread. good overall guideline on what to look for and what to avoid. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...orvette-6.html

Welcome aboard! If you happen to search nationwide, and find something you’d like to have looked at down in my neck of the woods, let me know. I’m no expert, but I can take pictures and report back! Best of luck and enjoy your journey here!
