Default 68 only bezel question

My early august LATE 1968 was pretty much all original, i noticed the center guage bezel is textured like 69 plus. i read everywhere that 68 ONLY had a smooth bezel. i am thinking the switch to textured bezels came in the last weeks of 1968 model year production, does anyone else have a late 68 with a textured bezel? im just curious. my car does have the wiper override light on the right side bottom, which i read only 68s had. in 69 it said something else?

As far as I know, all 68 were smooth.

I briefly owned an August 68 car. It had a smooth bezel. I have heard that rumor before but truthfully it makes more sense that it was replaced at some point due to them breaking easily.

According to the newest NCRS 68-69 Judging Guide,68 was smooth. No “late” or any other qualifiers.
