Default 1973 Vacuum Tank

Morning all. Is it common to bypass the vacuum tank in the front of the car?
I'm asking because mine is bypassed.

Thanks for your insight.

Hi Eric,
Just curious, with the vacuum tank bypassed...how are your headlights( doors) operating? Electric?

they will open and close fine at idle with no vac tank. tank is mainly to close the lights after shutting engine off. but if no leaks you can usually cycle them a couple of times. of course there are never no leaks...

I would have to get under there and track it all, but they are still vacuum operated, the tank is not being used however.

I thought it was weird that it wasn’t being used. However if the tank id leaking vacuum, (I don’t know this for sure), then the tank would not be useful and would need to be replaced.

easy to fix the leaks. get a vape. cap off all the hoses. blow smoke in one hose. see where smoke comes out. paint the spot with JB or most any epoxy then cover it with flex seal or similar.

Great advice, I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this! Weekend project, check!
