Default Bad taillight assembly…?


I wanted to swap tail lights, and when i pulled this reverse light out, THIS was the backing! How do i go about fixing this?

Looks to me like the remains of the old bulb is still in there. Use a needle nose to grab the brass ring, then push down and turn counter clockwise, If that doesn't work, then improvise. Since the surface should be white, you might just want to see if someone on the forum has a housing for sale. Or you can buy new reproduction.

At 62Corvette, as stated, that’s remnants of an old bulb socket. They fuse quite easily, and as a precautionI always place some lithium grease before I replace the bulb. Grab those needle nose pliers, as stated above what would I do with simply grab an edge and start crushing and folding it in on its self, it eventually collapses and falls out. Again at 62Corvette has stated someone has been too liberal with their paint. Take a picture a little further back to give us a better understanding of what’s going on there the better answer your question. Good luck, Ike.
