To use a later year steering column he used a later year mount. You will need to swap that or make an adapter plate...this is a 68 steering mount
I am almost certain I. We’d to also change out this bracket as even though I got the one from EBay things still don’t line up, that upper silver mounting bracket is too wide!

I can measure mine tonight to see if its narrower. I see 68s on facebook that are being parted out, you might try and find one being cut up. I would assume that part isnt popular. Also try a vette junkyard/recycler. Paragon used to have used parts...prbably not anymore. Maybe Keen corvette does but you have to call
Sheesh, it never ends for you. I wasn't really sure on that upper piece but I guess there is a 68 only top piece as well. A 67 could possibly be the same too. I have never had a problem getting a hard to find part from David Sokolowski. Give him a call. He is very reasonable too. His number is 310-329-5334. He is in California.

I’ll give him a call.
Had hoped changing out the lower bracket would suffice but apparently the upper need to be changed too.
Now I’m “gun shy” that there are lots of other items that had to be changed to get that 77 column in there. I know none of the electrical stuff had been changed over yet thankfully.
But : is rag joint the same for both? Are there other mounts or fittings that had to be changed. If just those 2 bolt on mounts (assuming o can source) no problem. But if rag joint etc that’s going to be a big deal.

Thank you. No need as we know that they are totally different. The top 2 bolts onto the upper dash are the same but further down they differ. The later one is wider at the lower half and the 68 is narrower.
The splined shaft on the late 69 and up steering columns as well as the late 69 and up steering box shafts had a machined flat in the splined ends. 68 to early 69 steering boxes had round worm gear splined ends and the columns did also. As a result they used different rag joint flanges than those later with the flat. That 77 column of yours should have that flat. I guess there is a chance he changed the steering shaft in your 77 column but I would doubt it. Check your steering box too in case he changed that and see if the rag joint you have works with both your steering box and your 68 column. You would be able to see the flats on your rag joint flanges if they are late 69 and up.

This is for 68. You can compare to the one below.
Go to your non-CFC3 cross post. I've done this (mid-70's back to '68 steering) and have the part you need. The picture is the part you need but that is NOT the brake/clutch pedal support. Don't have time to repost all that.
