Last time i went it was still at Pheasant Run in St Charles. I was looking forward to it, but was very disappointed. It was not the show that I remember. A waste of time for me.
Side Story: I have a soft spot for Pace Cars. A few months out of H/S waaay back in the early 80's, a guy let me drive his immaculate pace car for the afternoon. Well, I was getting it ready for the guy to sell, so it was more like a trustworthy Ferris Beuler's Day Off kind of thing...only I didn't beat the car (my parents taught me better than THAT!). I had to clean it up (thoroughly), buff and detail it out. After a morning's worth of hard work on a hot day, I had to gas it up and make sure it was 'mechanically good'. Spent the rest of the afternoon tooling around town, the countryside, waving at chicks, etc. Tops off, listening to 80's tunes! Beautiful warm/sunny day about this time of yr. I was in heaven. This was just when C4's were coming out ....C5/6/7's obviously didn't exist. So to most people, Sharks were common Corvettes of the day. It was the Coolest car I'd ever driven at the time and generous of him to trust me to drive it. Created a life-long memory. I was hooked! An owner should let a young guy drive a vette or classic car, a bit to pass along memories for younger guys. Sometimes the smallest thing can leave the grandest memories. This car brought back a flood of memories..
And that 78 Pace Car led to some 22 subsequent Corvette Pace Cars! The cosmetics, paint and decals GM Chevrolet realized sells! So we see them today. Corvette collectors like to have one in their collection because as you describe...its a classic!
I got the latest email from Bloomington Gold, where the owner "answers people's questions," which I believe are made up by himself...but anyway, they claim to have had 170+ people on Saturday at the "Roar and Peace" movie and talk from David Burroughs. Did anyone attend this, and if so, do you have any pictures, and what was the attendance? I went to one of the films the last year I went (2021), and there might have been eight people there.
I didn't see that one. I would liked to have. By that time I was in another building further away and realized it was halfway over and not worth walking over to. That's my bad.
I attempted to watch the L88 presentation at 11:00. There were a lot of people at that presentation. Most seats were filled as I recall. BUT...the PA/Microphone setup was so poor, or he wasn't speaking directly into it, I couldn't understand a word he was saying. I understand a presenter can't really judge how he's sounding when the speakers are way out there...someone should have hit the 'stop button' and had him speak into the mic more closely, or crank up the trebble more. My hearing is pretty good. My brother couldn't understand it either. Plus you're competing with the "echo-ey" manufacturer's exhibit area.
The Noon Corvette #1 presentation was very interesting. That was outside under a tent. It was great. My brother and I actually learned a lot. Corey Peterson was clear to hear, and there was a lot of "How GM did things back then" information which I had never read before ...and found very interesting. And how those processes translated into changes to that specific car, but also to other very early corvettes. We really enjoyed that.
I saw the Roar of The Fuelie's at 4:00 happening, and there seemed to be quite a few people there. But we wanted to get in some last areas before things started to shut down and didn't hang around.

174 persons attended the David Burroughs presentation on L88s. 2nd pic.
...ain't that the truth. Years ago I looked forward to Bloomington. Went there every year from 1991 to around 2008. Did go again in '15 & '18 when it was at Indy. Sadly it was in it's decline even then. Loved it at Springfield the best though.
Really enjoyed it when it was held in Springfield.
It is too bad to see the show decline over the years.
A guy I used to know would say: "Ya want to keep the local grocery store around the corner in business....sometimes it's a good idea to shop there. Even if it costs a little more...."
