Default Cleaning the underside with acetone

Hi all,
I have my entire rear end out so I did a little wipe down on one of the rear compartments with acetone. It cleaned up really well, took off the crud and whatever coating was there right to the grayish fiberglass and feels nice and smooth. Before I go too far, can the acetone damage the fiberglass? I wiped with water afterwards and figured I’d wait until tomorrow. If it’s a problem, any other suggestions? Degreaser really didn’t do anything.

I tried to post a picture but can’t for some reason.

Thanks!

Acetone won't hurt the fiberglass but it will remove factory crayon and paint markings along with the grime.

good point. Any thoughts on lacquer thinner or mineral spirits?

Lacquer thinner will be similar to acetone; mineral spirits would be OK with paint marks but would probably remove crayon.
For my cars I used concentrated Simple Green or Purple Power degreaser and Scotch-brite gray ultra-fine pads. It's slower than the other three solvents but it's easier on surfaces and yourself.
