I put a tilt tele into my 69 conv today after discovering that the ignition switch needed to be replaced from my stock base column. Pulled it out for a third time and put the new switch in. The wiring had to be installed upside down on the switch on the column. Question? Is the wiring from the harness different to the switch on the tilt tele column? Connected the battery and the pass turn signal turned on solid and will not activate the starter. Help
Also have these wires that I can’t figure out. Looked at a diagram but I’m stumped.

Other members....."papawana" and member "robertea both offer free wiring diagrams on this forum.
You need to study the diagrams and connect the column wires accordingly.
Maybe check the wire that provides voltage to the Start Safety Switch FIRST...
once you have THAT wire connected correctly and the key switch activates the starter.....
pick another wire to connect to the new column and continue the process.
The diagram can also identify any unconnected wires and what they do (some connectors are not used)
The wiring is the same for both standard and tilt/tele columns. As you noted, the two plugs need to be rotated 180 degrees to mate to the tilt/tele switch. As to the starter not engaging, it sounds like the rod engaging the ignition switch needs adjusting. You need to set the switch in the middle detent, off position, and the key in the same off position, and slide the switch up against the rod with just a little pressure. Hard to explain. The standard and tilt/tele rods work opposite, one pulls on the rod and the other pushes. As to the wires, I think the brown is to a capacitor that may or may not still be there. The red with white stripe goes to the wiper override switch under the dash and I believe the solid red does too, although it looks to have an aftermarket terminal end on it.
