Default Complete 1969 coupe body for sale....

I have been trying to sell this as a whole car, I've decided to keep the rolling chassis and drivetrain, soooo....This is a complete, NICE, not wrecked body, nothing wrong with it, NOTHING. I will sell it as a complete, body, interior, glass, chrome, etc., everything except rolling chassis and drivetrain, asking $8500.00, will also part out,(nose, interior, etc.), if enough interest. Why am I doing this? I'm going to build a Grand Sport,(1965 vintage), replica, I already have a complete, fresh rolling chassis, I don't need the body. I can send pics of the car on request, car is still together.....Coop

Hi Tom...Thanks....I don't know why it didn't sell, maybe I should have had it in the car corral instead of a flea spot...oh well, it was nice to meet you and some of the other guys from this forum while I was there, I had a great time in Carlisle, worse case I had to drive the car home...not a bad thing.....Coop :seeya

Do you have any pics?

I might be interested in building a ZL-1 look alike

Coop. Thanks for the pics. The car is pretty interesting. What are those seats?

I'm gonna have to give it a lot of thought. I bought my 69 A/C convert. a little over a year ago for $7900, and it was rough but complete. I'm in for well over $20K now. $8500 for a coupe that needs a frame, suspension, and drivetrain means someone (like me) is looking at one hell of a end bill! Bare frames are running around $2K alone. I've seen decent (not original), running 68-72 coupes selling here and a carlisle for $9K-$12K.

You might want to consider keeping the motor and trans since that's where you seem to have your investment and sell the rest of the rolling car for around $8K

Or....You could buy the whole car and save yourself the hassle of looking for a straight, rust free frame and all new, rebuilt chassis  The seats are out of a ' 90 ......Coop

Can I ask a tangential question? If you sell the body, I'm assuming the title and VIN will go with it. How are you going to title the car that you'll build on top of the chassis?

Why would I necessarly include the title and vin # with the body?..Maybe somebody has a car they have titled, and they need a new body...If somebody needed the title, that would be ok too, I would either part what was left, or build the GS kit car, the title wouldn't be an issue for me.....Coop

The title always goes with the body. The VIN tag is part of the body. Cars get new frames all the time but the VIN stays with the 'car' ie. body.

If you decide to keep the rolling chassis and drivetrain and sell the body with no VIN, you might as well part it. There's not a lot of value left. Getting a replacement title isn't easy. Transferring the title from another car (and replacing the VIN tag) is a felony.

So...Are you interested in buying the body w/tag...or just busting my chops? The tag would not go with the body if I decided to part the body,eg., just the nose, or just the firewall back. As far as not being much value left, weren't you the one that stated bare frames were worth $2000 and up?...........Coop

No intent to bust your chops at all. Just offering an individual objective opinion.

Yes, frames go for around $2K, but you were talking about keeping the rolling chassis and drivetrain so the frame is a moot point. There's probably more individual value there than elsewhere, especially with a rebuilt suspension. The body with the VIN tag has some value because it's not much different than a vette with rusty frame... Swap the frame and off you go. However, without the tag you have a separate-able group of body panels, a good interior, some chrome, and some glass. I have little doubt you could get more for the individual pieces than the whole. Obtaining a new title isn't a small task, and transferring one from another car is VERY illegal.

Hey Man, I didn't mean to offend you. I was just curious about your plans. I'm pretty sure that if you build a GS replica you'll need a midyear birdcage at a minimum to start with, and that would need a title to register it. Or, if you fab the whole thing from scratch, you'll have to get some kind of state VIN and register it as a kit car.

I know that a fellow forum member spent $6k for basically just a birdcage and partial frame for a midyear coupe in order to build a hotrod GS-like car.

Good luck with the car, whatever you decide to do.

Shannon
