Put a picture of what "81 style" you are referring to...I have a set of original VC's from a 79 L82....black ribbed aluminum.

I don't have a picture but,they are black, aluminum with fins. One has vent hole and filler cap. The other has vent and a circular spot with corvette emblem (crossed flags) GM restoration parts show that they are the same for 78-80 hi performance and 81-82 all.

I think the 81's are actually magnesium rather that aluminum like previous models.
