!977 Corvette Trim tag
Anyone have a trim tag from a 1977 corvette that was red on red car? I need the metal trim tag off the lh hinge post red/red car. Paint 72 and trim 24.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I haven't used their services, but its worth looking into: http://www.trimtags.com/ordering.html
Wow, for $235, I hope this is for a restoration. That is an insane price.

So let's just change the options on the tag. Don't like a green car? Just paint it blue and change the tag. The next buyer won't be the wiser. Right? Might as well buy one of those "aged" tank stickers from Ebay too.

Should we mention the "build date" thing?

I guess the days of buying and selling untouched and original cars is over. Or am I being too cynical?
If the plate fell off and is lost, no harm, no foul. If it is a 1977 then the sales sheet telling the truth is most likely available. I like having documentation personally.
If buying a 1977-1982 C-3 I would suggest, and only my opinion here, you ask to see the original sales sheet showing the VIN that matches the car. With the value so much lower in the later years than the earlier bumper cars it might only be the difference in a few hundred dollars for the car unless, and can you imagine, it was the one and only Exterior 41 tag.
Have a great day.

I guess I'm not seeing the huge problem. I would understand if this was at late sixties, highly optioned car that was being changed to black on black. But the OP has a 77 that he wants a tag that says 72 / 24. Over 4,000 Medium red 77s were produced.
And I'm sure someone could call you out on the build date by doing a little VIN code break down.
That website I provided requires a copy of your title or registration. Not that I condone cheating, but as far as options go, I would think that color might be towards the bottom (besides 900 / 402) of options to heavily affect the price.

I never thought about cheating as an issue. I just wanted a tag to match the colors. Nothing about the car is number matching. Just a driver on special times. My wife wanted a red on red corvette to drive when ever. Was a L-48 car now has an 4 bolt engine with light mods generating about 350 hp at the flywheel. If I was trying to deceive someone I would pay the 235 for a new tag and number match the rest of it. Not into that--just like working on cars as a hobby and probably today is better than investing in stocks. My 401 is junk!
