454 Block- Free to a Good Home
I have a 454 block that I am willing to give away. It is casting number 3999289. The reason I am giving it away is it needs to be resleeved in one cylinder. The block is a standard bore block and somehow one of the cylinders got some water in it and it sat for a long time. The inside of the cylinder rusted past the point where a 0.060 cut would clean it up. It costs about $200 to have a sleeve put in, so this is a great opportunity for someone who can use this block. I am located in California.
The heads and intake manifold can be had for a few bucks.
I am doing this because it is time to clean out the garage and if it does not go to one of my cars, it is going.
Let me know if you are interested.

I will check
I know they can be cut a little more. I will go out and take a second look at it. I will even get my dial bore gauge to get a better idea of how bad it is. I would rather tell someone it needs a sleeve and it not need one than tell them it can be bored out and it really needs a sleeve. You get the point.
I will try to post my results later tonight
I actually went out and cleaned up the cylinder a bit. The piston is still in the hole, but by the looks of it, if you can cut it 0.100, it should clean up. I will try to get the piston out of it tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Drifting
That's gonna make a great block for some lucky stiff. You're most generous. You should at least put a price on it of a sixer of your favorite malt beverage There are a lot more parts sold with defects that are presented as perfect than those that are sold or given away with full disclosure of problems. Kudos to you.
Bottom line, I've tried to gauge the depth of pitting, etc. and have never been very good at it. I either under or over estimate it, those little spots are tough to figure. It'll take a machinist's boring machine to tell for sure.
