Default big block 427---bolt it in!

My 68 coupe currently has a 427 tall deck, 4 bolt motor. See and hear it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5qIOmPGtug

I am taking it out to either re-install the original engine, OR convert to LS motor.

The sidemount headers in the video are gone. I have installed a set of Hedman under chassis hedders, and they are modified (read that "massaged") to clear the steering box and passenger side frame. Currently has a Winters LS6 intake manifold, Edelbrock 750 carb, oval port iron heads (not the truck heads), March pulley, serpentine belt setup, MSD Billet-tach drive distributor. Fits under stock Big Block Hood. Driven only a few thousand miles over the past 4-5 years. Has a moderate cam, but not sure of make/model.

This engine will bolt right into your C2 or C3. No modifications necessary. Not sure about using cast iron exhaust manifolds, but both Hooker Sidemounts and Hedmann 2" primary tbes fit, with a little bit of coaxing in two spots. No other issues to make the tall deck fit, unless you want to use a high rise manifold. Forget that. A 2" air cleaner, or better still, a drop base air cleaner are best.

$3,000.00 gets you the engine, complete from top to bottom, carb to oil pan, front to back. Starter and flywheel not included.

For an additional $750, I will include an aftermarket aluminum radiator and rad support currently in the car, and the big block hood that is on the car.

I will be tied up the week of May 07-13, so if you email me and I do not respond, please be patient.

Please note that I'm not interested in a debate if the tall deck motor fits in a Vette. It does, with NO modifications to the car. Tons of power, great sound. Just not what I want.

How did you get a LS6 intake to bolt up to a tall deck motor?

Several manufacturers make adapter-spacers to use standard deck intakes on tall deck motors. About $175.00.

Ok...I was just trying to clarify some points you mentioned in your ad.
I'm aware of the spacers available...just asking because this wasn't mentioned anywhere in your ad.
Plus, an LS6 intake has rect ports and you've listed oval heads.

I'm always curious when I get expert comments like this. Are you interested in buying it? Probably not. Do you have something meaningful to add? Definitely not.

Well yes actually I WAS... Just trying to understand exactly what you were offering for sale before pursuing this further and was asking on an open Forum for others to understand also.

Good luck with your sale.

Really, a legitimate question by BillsVette and a response like that. Cross me off the list of interested buyers. Nice attitude.
