Default Twist Caps Last Year Was 1969.

That might be the year the valve covers came off of, but they were not original to the car.
In 1971 the oil filler plug went to the push in kind.
The drippers stopped in 72.
So, there are a number of things that make those covers off ealier cars.
Thanks Anyway though,
M

I have a pair that came with my 70. Not sure if they are original or not. I'll dig them out this weekend

I was looking for something else and came across this. It says it is the year and engine you are looking for although it would need to be painted.

May not be the right one but it is free to take a look -

spf72,

I really appreciate you taking the time to try to help out. Corvette valve covers had drippers welded on the inside. I have been looking long enough to even know where the spot welds that hold the drippers in are. There are no spot welds where they should be, so it is very close, but not quite.

Thanks Again,

Those valve covers are close, but starting in "70", the oil filler was a push in plug. Those have a twist in filler car which means they are "70" or ealier.
thanks for taking a look.

Keep your eye on eBay. That's where I found mine. IIRC I paid like $30 for them.

Default Willing to Trade if that's what it takes.

I am still looking for the 72, 454 valve covers with drippers and the push in plug for the oil filler. The twist filler ended in 69.

I have found a set of original 1971, 454 valve covers with the drippers if anyone is interested in a trade. I have heard that real 71 covers are harder to find than the 72 covers, but I have had no luck at all with the 72 covers and have run across quite a few 71's.

Where are all of you guys that keep e-mailing me telling me you see them all the time at swap meets for $10.00.

A lot of you guys have helped me look for these covers, and I thank you for that. But, I am still looking and if you run across a pair, please, let me know.

Thanks all,

Default Drippers, Wire Clips, Push in Oil Filler=Hard to Find

The 72 covers are different from 70 and 71. There is a very good chance you may have seen the 70 or 71 style. The 70 and 71 do not havethe individual wire clips.

The 72 are alone because they not only have the push in oil plug and the drippers; they also have the clips for each individual spark plug wire.

You can find the push in oil filler and the each individual wire clipped ones, all day long, for $10.00. But, drippers, push in oil filler, and individual wire clips together is what is hard to find.

Default Worth a Shot

Javier,
It sounds like the ones you have are not 72, 454 valve covers. That is what I am willing to trade for.
As I mentioned before: the 72 covers will have the drippers, the push in oil filler, a couple of tabs that the black plastic wire clips will go on, and a single metal wire clip spot welded clip for each spark plug wire.

Thanks for taking the time to look though.
If you have a need for the 71 covers, I am sure we can eventually work something out. I am going to run the 71 covers on my car until I find a set of 72 covers.
After I find a set of 72 covers, I no longer will have a need for the 71 covers.

I am still looking for a set of these covers that are painted, havethe push in oil filler plug, have drippers, and have the loom at each spark plug wire.

Quite a few of you have helped me look. I really appreciate the time it took forthat, but I am still looking.

I recently had the ones you need, drippers, painted, push in oil cap. We got $200 for them, they were in good shape but needed to be blasted, repainted etc. just to give you an idea of market value.

I will be at a swap meet this weekend, will see what I can find.

Default 1972 Valve covers

Hi,

I have a pair of Crane 1972 valve covers they are exact to the the originals. Drippers, push in oil cap and individual wire holders. They also have correct dimples ad correct dent for power brake. I bought them and then found a pair of originals on ebay a week later 5 miles from my house (I scored). I looked for 2 years prior to buying the cranes. My crane covers are new and in the box unpainted. There is a set on ebay right now with good pictures. Mine are exactly the same. If you are interested pm me and I will shoot some pictures.

Thanks

Found a set that need a little work, but they were cheap.
Would not mind finding a better set that need a little less work.
