Default !!!WTB - 1972 Big Block Valve Cover With Drippers!!!

I am looking for a valve cover for my 1972 Corvette with a 454.

Drippers, Push in Style Oil Filler, Wire Loom at Each Spark Plug Wire, Painted not Chrome.

STILL LOOKINGThere has to be a set of these out there somewhere
It must be painted and have drippers spot welded on the inside.

I need a set, but the drivers side is really the one I need most.

The drivers side only has one hole for the PCV valve while the passenger side has two holes. Passenger side has the hole to put oil in the engine.

So, if you have one of these painted valve covers and are willing to part with it, or them, please let me know.

Thank You.

I see them at swap meets a lot but there are two things to look for on the driver's side---the location of the wire harness stand which should be located just left of the third valve cover bolt (nearest the intake) and the lower right corner of the valve cover has a "step" or indent. Here is a link to Crane's reproduction 1972-1974 valve covers. Don't everybody get all goose bumpy about the price. I have bought these for as little as $5 at swap meets in nice restorable condition.

Default Drippers

I also go to a lot of swap meets. For five dollars you can buy then all day long, but the ones with the drippers are very hard to come by.
Maybe you have had better luck than I have, but the ones that have the drippers in them are no around out here on the west coast.

Thanks for the input though.
I actually have my original set, but when the guy took my car apart years ago, he threw everything in a bin. The valve covers had the original exaust manifolds, the original intake, and smog stuff sitting on top it for thirty years.

Do not get me wrong. I could have a lot bigger problems than all the original parts sitting on top of other original parts, but I just hope to find an original set that has a few less dings than mine. The passenger side would be easy to straighten, but the drivers side is going to be a little more difficult.

Thanks again

I saw a set of factory chrome ones on ebay here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIG-BLOCK-CH...-/230692630163

They have the indent and wiring harness stand that ss396t6 mentions.

I only look for those with drippers as I have several that don't have them. I have seen them at swap meets with drippers for as little as $5, both my year and yours. Most are dinged and have surface rust but a few were in good shape except for being down right dirty. I started bringing vinyl gloves to swap meets because I examine so many carburetors, starters, and alternators. And valve covers.

I am going to an NCRS Regional meet tomorrow and I will check around to see if anyone owning a '72 has extra valve covers. Our local swap meets have ended here for the season.

I am sending you an email.

Default thanks

The ones on e-bay a not correct for my car, but thank you. That is what is on my car now.

I bring old socks to the swap meets. Sometimes it is very cold, so my hands are warm, but the real reason is they are warm while I carry cold and dirty steel parts.

I will continue to look at swap meets and I hope I have the kind of luck you have had. Like I said, I really only need the drivers side.

Until I find one, I made a punch and die set on my mill. Everywhere there is a weld spot, I punched it . After paint, you cannot tell it does not have the drippers because the punches look so much like the spot welds, but I know. It would just be nice to have the correct one.

Thanks for the encouragement

SS396 t6

Thanks for the link of the valve covers. I have a few sets of those. They do not have the drippers.

In my searching the 73-74 does not have the drippers.

But, thanks again for trying

Did I send you the wrong link? I thought the link I sent had the drippers.

I'm retired. I do this for a lot of 1968-1972 Corvette people including myself. It's hard enough trying to find this stuff solo. Then getting around the price gougers is another feat.

I am still looking for a set of valve cover for the 72. The painted ones with the drippers on the inside.

I have a 71 set. It will be a PITA to ship to the US but it seems to me that you might be prepared to go to a lot of trouble to get a correct set.

These are from a 1971 454 365HP.

If interested... I could take some photos, though it will be a few days before I get back to the shop. The covers are in very good condition but "filthy".

I have a set of originals, they were chrome, the chrome is starting to peel. If you are interested, you could always remove the chrome and paint them. Send me a PM if interested.

Here are some that I think are original.
Some of the drippers are broken, but does that really matter?
Can these (drippers) be repaired or re-spot welded in?

On another matter,
You have contacted me about quite a few Corvette parts (including a Fuel Injection unit) and I have responded, but never heard back from you?

Just saying......

Default Not quite it

They are all close, but they are all 69 and ealier. The twist oil filler caps last year was 1969.
That last set that you say has a few broken drippers, I am sure there is someone out there lookingfor those.

Thanks for taking a look.

Default Are you sure about the twist cap?

I have a pair of flash chromed 73's with drippers and a pair of painted 74's with drippers and both pairs have the twist caps.
