Default 1970 LS5 Long Block

3963512 block, casting date L 17 9 makes this a late 1969 454 block. Forged 7416 crank with 3/8" bolt rods. Heads are 3964290, casting dates L 16 9 and L 17 9. Engine is bone stock 2-bolt standard bore and will need a rebuild due to some scratches in bores. I cracked the heads off to check bores but other than that, it hasn't been touched in 30 years. Rolls over freely. Email me direct at 81vette4speed@suddenlink.net for pics or more info. $5,000 or best reasonable offer. Advertising here and on Chevelle site, first come, first served!

I work with the 1970 Corvette Registry. Is this a Corvette block? If so what is the VIN and suffix code, please?

Thanks,
Scott Sims

I don't think it's a Corvette engine, just the correct numbers and dates. TI223CGV plus VIN on the deck. Thanks for the inquiry, though - if by chance it's out of a Corvette that's still on the road, I'd sure like to see 'em reunited.

You are correct. It is a 1970 454 345 HP LS-4 Chevrolet engine with manual transmission.

Thanks for the info.
Since they share heads, block, etc., what's the difference between an LS4 and LS5 - camshaft?
