I did not realize the L82 steering column would be different than a standard steering column for a 76. The 72 race car replica body I bought came with a 76 tilt/tele steering column and steering wheel but I thought it would have been standard for all 76's.
I will monitor your thread and see what I can learn from it.

If you can make it to Carlisle there is probably one or more of them going to be there the end of the month, at least I would think so.

Good luck with your search and here is a bump to the top for you.

Best regards,

David Howard

Default Column steering

I am not sure if a 75 will work. Is it telescopic, tilt?

This is the 76 Tilt/Tele with the Vega steering wheel on it.
Was installed on L-48 and L-82 models.
This one is coming out of my race replica project soon and being replaced by a rebuilt Tilt/Tele from a 1972.
I hope this helps.

No tele or tilt, but in good condition with keys.

I removed this column and replaced it with one from a 78. It is like driving a different car. The 78 is tilt and tele plus it is about 3" shorter which greatly improves getting in and out.

FWIW: The 76 steering column is not associated with engine application. There were two: tilt/tele and standard. Each was one year only for 76.

That's 100% correct ?? If so, I'll start looking for a '78 column immediately.

My '75 is a nightmare to get out of. This thing must have been designed for 90 lbs dudes.
