1970 454 3963512 engine for sale
I had posted this engine on the ‘orphan parts’ thread some time ago but never received a response, so I have decided to sell this engine. The VIN is not listed in any registry I have searched.
This is a 1970 454 engine, block 3963512. Here is what I know – it came in a c2 corvette, which had been sitting for years, possibly decades. I don’t have any idea of the mileage. The car ran surprisingly well, but the car was some sort of ‘barn find’ and has subsequently had a body-off resto (by me). I have had this engine sitting in the corner of my garage, covered with plastic, for years. It looks like it has never been apart, so it may be stock bore and stock everything.
Here are the parts: block, heads, all valvetrain, damper, timing cover, oil pan (with dents underneath). It is all assembled. Does NOT include intake, fuel pump, water pump, distributor, or carb. Also no exhaust manifolds.
Block 3963512, date B 17 70 probably 2 bolt mains, but I have not had pan off.
Stamped T0312CZU (Tonawanda, March 12 assembly, 454/390hp 4 speed hydraulic lifters, 4bbl Rochester carb); 70S407550
Heads both 3964290, date C970 on both (69-70 390hp head)
It is all orange but plenty of grease and grime as expected. It ran when disassembled, but I would suggest a going-through before using it. You might be surprised at a fantastic original engine for a refreshing, or there could be surprises. Price reflects the uncertainty.
I have seen these blocks on ebay for $5000, and complete engines for $2500, so not sure the real value. I am asking $3000. I am 15 miles north of NY City - would prefer not to ship it, since that is not easy, but I have done it before with a small block (pallet, freight company)
