Default WTB Original 1968 Front Spoiler

Looking for a good used original front spoiler for my 68. I believe 68 through 72 are the same. I realize I can buy a repo but I prefer original parts. Let me know if you have one for sale. Thanks Rich jcmsp062@aol.com

Default Spoiler alert!!!

What does an original look like? There might be a difference between factory vs service replacement vs reproduction. I have seen about 3 or 4 different kinds.

I'm not sure how to identify an assembly line part . I've only had the car a couple of weeks. I can take mine off and examine it , it's broken but complete.

I would be interested in seeing pictures. I have never heard it mentioned but they are made out of a type of plastic that might able to be plastic welded. Might take some investigating. Google it?

Hey, if you decide to get rid of your old one, let me know. I would like to try and weld it. Thanks

Very difficult to find the originals as they got destroyed under the front of the car.
I need one more nice one also, been looking 4 years. The originals do not have nubs from the injection molding process in the backside of the stiffening ribs.

Hi,
Although there are various subtle differences in the the detail on the back-side of the dam, (the nibs for one as jh mentioned,) the problem with the reproductions is that the curve at each end doesn't match the curve in the fiberglass valance.
It's made originals in really nice condition quite rare and valuable.
There has been some success using glues like the cyanoacrylate type glues and powdered filler.
Regards,
Alan

A repaired area on my original. The most difficult part is getting the proper texture in the plastic.

Fit of original air dam.

Fit of typical reproduction air dam.
