Default WTB: Body Lift Strap(s) Set

I'm looking for a set of newish (good shape) body straps. I'm prepping for body off lift of my 81. I was going to buy a set from one of the suppliers but didn't really want to pay $80+. Thought some might have something they've used once... I'm using a 2 ton engine hoist/cherry picker. If you've got something PM me what you're asking price is and some photos. Also some lessons learned if you got'em!

Thanks!

I have set of home made straps that I never used. $20 plus ship.
Will get pics soon, but easiest if I text them.

They are short ratchet adjustable straps

Just be aware that the corvette straps are way too long for using a cherry picker. If you use them you will have to take up the slack in them or it won't lift high enough to clear the frame.

Nix, I made a big steel hanger that I hooked on the cherry picker. I used two heavy duty ratchet straps, one on each end. You definitely need help doing it this way. I lifted the body off then pushed the chassis out from under the body. Then set the body down right where it was. Ken

I purchased the standard kit from Paragon and made the clamps to shorten the length. I made the front end support myself and used a ratchet tie down

looks good! It seems these straps come a bit long. I'd be interested in the clamp detail...do you have any close-ups of the clamps?

I have a set only used once that I can part with. I was worried about pinching the car and cracking the doors if I shortened the straps too much so I just built a 13ft tall Ibeam hoist. Even with a hoist that tall I still had to remove the wheels from the frame to clear everything when I removed the body. So when I put the body back on I wrapped all four straps around a 4x4 square tube and welded on a loop to keep them all nice and flat and spread out. It wasn't the most elegant solution but it worked and I wasn't pinching the car or pinching/shearing the straps in in any way that might compromise their integrity.

I'm afraid those might be a bit long... I'm working out of my garage (10ft ceiling) with a HF 2T lift. So the straps need to be on the shorter side. Mid America has some straps that are under 6' but are out of stock and they said they're not looking to get them back in stock until late December.

Or you can just tie a few knot in the straps to shorten them, it worked for me.

You have to ask yourself why they just don't offer the straps in a shorter version ? Most people don't have the garage clearance or have to use a cherry picker to lift the body . I have a mobile crane that has no problem lifting high enough and high commercial ceilings in the garage so it is no problem for me but it is not the situation for most people wanting to remove the body. The clamps are a good idea for those people . They could at least include a set of clamps with the long straps. Maybe a good idea for someone to make and sell them.
