Default WTB starter bolts

My iron nose starter for the 621 bellhousing evidently takes an odd length pair of bolts. I have plenty of "longs" and "shorts" but this starter uses something in between, about 4" long. Anybody got a pair of these? NAPA has then but they are grade 3 crap

Can you use studs in your situation? They are available in the speed equipment catalogs/online.

Just a thought.

Default Hi

You can go to most hardware stores and get a grade five bolt of the right length. As I recall, they are both the same length? Do you want originals? I see those on ebay.

Yes - correct starter bolts have a knurled shank to properly locate the starter. Any other bolts will NOT suffice. Many have tried regular bolts then wonder why they have to use shims....

GM over the counter must be able to order them. They are on ebay from time to time. It is not uncommon to use shims regardless. I check clearances when putting engine together and make sure they don't bind.
