I wasn't aware they actually changed the latch between the early and late model 68. Good to know. Sorry I couldn't help you out.
Just out of curiousity, what changes were made between the two versions?
Sorry - not thinking correctly when I originally replied to your thread - 1968 deck latches had the spring mounted on the inside on the hinge assembly. 1969 to 1975 had the spring mounted externally of the hinge assembly as shown in your picture. I am by no means an expert - somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

This is totally my mistake. I looked on my 68 and the spring is on the inside of the assembly. Sorry about that. I've corrected the post.
