I am still able to buy new quarts of lacquer thru my local paint store. They come directly from PPG. might want to check with one of your stores see if they can order it

I am STILL restoring my Viking Blue 1972 Olds Cutlass 442 but years ago when I started, I'd go into the automotive paint store here in town and ask about lacquer paint to paint it with. "Nope can't get it, no longer made.....you'll have to paint it in base coat/clear coat! Besides, it's easier to apply" was the answer I go multiple times from different salesmen. One day I was in there picking up supplies and mentioned that when I painted the car that I was hoping to use lacquer paint since I'd always had good luck/results with it but was a shame I couldn't get it anymore. He said why not and was surprised that the other guys had been negative. He asked me the paint code and went in the back and looked it up and made me up a small test sample. I went home, sprayed it on a test card and compared it to the inside of the rear deck lid.....a perfect match. I had him make me up a gallon and give me a gallon of High performance clear and the primes and such. I have it stored in the house for the day I ever get ready to paint it. You can still get it if you find an old timer willing to help you out.
