1977 Floormats RPO-B32
In 1977, it was the first year for a carpeted floor mat. GM used a trial and error basis. The first batch manufactured had a separation problem between the carpet and the rubber. In addition, the back side of the mat had very fine "teeth" and didn't hold the mat in place very well.
An adhesive change was made at the source in March of 77 to correct the problem. Then Chevrolet Product Assurance realized that the Corvette emblem at the bottom half of the mat would cause interference with the heel of the drivers foot. They discontinued the mat and referred the customer to a 78 Corvette solid color mat with the Corvette emblem up towards the toe area.
The 77 multi-colored mats are extremely hard to find, especially in NOS condition. Also, these were the only multi-colored Corvette floor mats ever produced. Every mat since then has been a solid color. The mats were available in Black, Brown, Blue and Red. No one reproduces the 1977 factory floor mats. In my opinion these are the most eye appealing factory Corvette mats ever produced.
I have a few sets for sale for $295 each plus shipping. These have been in my possession for over 40 years and have always been stored flat in a climate controlled environment. Email me at blbeck77@aol.com if interested.
Thanks,
Bob

Agree.. here's a bump for you..
Even though GM changed the glue the separation issue didn't go away... They are still OEM NOS mats and well sought after... I have probably have a couple hundred of these old accessorie mat sets in the box that have been in storage since the early 80's. I was watching this thread to see the replies.. I'll hold on to mine a bit longer.. Hope you have some luck.

Mats
I have probably sold 25 sets over the years I advertise them for sale every so often. Most of my sales are from people searching for them and my name comes up
it takes a special person with a special car that is most likely a nice original factory correct car that wants a set of original mats.

Hopefully you have the floor mats stored flat and not rolled up tight in a box.

Melting Slicks
Sorry but they look like cheap Walmart items....in fact I saw something similar to them but were universal.

Different year Ralph.
The darker mats were 1978 I think... I have the old accessory catalogs somewhere, that broke them down by the part number. I'd have to dig for a month of Sunday's to find them though, they are buried in "The vault".
The blue mats I think were 77-79.. maybe later, again I'd have to check.
