Default WTB 1970 L46 350/350 4 SPeed 7040207 Quadrajet

Looking to replace my Holley 4555/Winters Hi-Rise on my L46 that the o/o purchased and put on when he bought the car with the correct Cast intake manifold and 7040207 Quadrajet. Can find a correct date-coded manifold on fleece-bay but can't locate the carb.

Anyone have a source for one?

Thanks!

cam anyone tell me where the id numbers are on the quadrajet car to identify them, though there was a small tag, but that was for older 2 barrel carbs of long ago.

The numbers are on the Drivers side main throttle body and will read perpendicular to the base of the intake. If you are looking for a date coded (factory installed) carb be ready to pay up. But, there are tons of service dated carbs out there that are reasonable. I believe one of the easy ways to tell the difference on your carb between the two is the service carb will have a triangle in the casting on the LH front of the carb.

Yes, will check my production date but I think March 2nd works for me.
If so, that's exactly what I need.

Talked to them today. They don't have either the 7040207 or 7040507 in stock. He did tell me the 0507 was used on the non-california 350/350 4 speed cars as well. I thought only the 0207 was.

In any event, I'm glad I didn't buy the FleeceBay one I saw for $450.00. Based upon what they told me, that one would have been a re-stamp fake. Price for authentic is around $1500.00. Sound about right?

Sounds about right. I have the original carb on my 70 L46 and it is a one year only carb. $1500 should get you a nice correct and properly working carb if you can find one.

I have only seen a couple over 10 years that were not on original cars.

This is one of those tough to find parts.

I will keep my eyes peeled.

Kind Regards,

Bill

Try Custom Rebuilt again. Their inventory changes often. He may have one now.
