Default 1968 Frame

I just found out my frame is toast. Taking over some else project wasn't a good idea.

So, does anyone know of a 68+ frame that for sale

327/4spd/convertible car.

If not, there is a good chance I may part out the rest of it.

thanks,

Joe

Default Parts.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a good frame. But I would definitely be interested in Parts if you that way as well.

"George has a 68 4 speed for sale"
$900 for a replacement frame? In what looks to be pretty out-standing condition? I do not see how you could improve on that option.

Thank you. I don't have any frames in the 68-73 style that he may want. jexner, I see you are located off of I-5 and your closest option might well be So Cal VETTES. They shared a photograph yesterday of a 1970 which would be a nice alternative for you. 1960fi (George) is located in the San Antonio, TX area and may also be a good option for you if you don't mind the drive. He had two 68 bare frames he was offering at $900 which is a very good price for a nice 68.

I know making a decision to part a car out is always a tough one and if we can help to find you a frame that would allow you to keep it on the road we sure would like to do that.

Good luck with your search and I will keep my eyes open as well.

Best regards,

David Howard

Default update

I found several sources near me. Frames are guaranteed to be straight and sandblasted/painted/ powder coated and they are SoCal frames. $3000-$3500. Seems high but they are a businesses. I know they need to keep the doors open, but..

Some even said they can stamp my number in their frames????? Is that legit?

My drive train is all numbers matching and definitely would like to keep it all numbers matching.

Thoughts!

If you replace the frame it will no longer have your correct VIN information on the frame. If numbers matching is important to you then I would consider having your current frame rebuilt by a reputable frame shop. Our local frame shops charge about $50 per hour so doing the math you can get a lot of repairs done for $3,000. Just my thoughts. Best of success with your search and your decision.

Frames sometimes get so bad, you cant even find the vin on them. But if that section is still viable, I could easily see that it would be nothing to cut it out and transfer it over to the new frame. Not sure if that is a legal issue or not. I am confident it could be done without loss of integrity of the strength of the new frame. You could weld over the old numbers and stamp the new numbers in. Very confident that is done. I was visiting someone once and watched them do that as a service to those that bought frames

Default 69 frame

SoCal Vettes,

Can you send me pics and price? I would rather keep it 68 but I may not have a choice. The front clip is from a 69!
