Default 1973 Muncie M21

I have a 1973 Muncie M20 transmission along with most parts for a four speed conversion to a C3 Corvette. Other than the pedal assembly, it is all here. Bell housing, clutch linkage to firewall, and reverse switch. I also have the original shifter that can be included. The owner of the car before me had just had the transmission rebuilt with new synchro's, bearings, & seals.
1000 complete or OBO.

Bump.
Will include rear driveline, which has new U-joints put on at time of rebuild.
Basically every part you need for a 4speed conversion, except the pedals.

According to the numbers on the tail shaft it is a M21.
You can look up yourself if you'd like. The numbers are in the above pictures.

What is the "P" NUMBER, looks like an "A" at the end...

If it is, that's an M-20... Eric

I'm definitely not the leading guru of transmission codes. I deciphered on the web to the best of my knowledge, and those numbers came out to be a M21.
The "P" number as far as I can find is just a production date number.
Here is another picture of the "P" number.
P3C304 which translate for me to 1973, March 4'th.
Am I wrong.

That's an "A" at the end of the "P" NUMBER, which is the ratio designator...

A=M-20
B=M-21
C=M-22

That's how the trans started life, could have been rebuilt with a different gear set, have to pull the side cover to be sure...

Hope this helps... Eric

If that's true, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to mislead anyone. I will amend the ad. Not sure if that make it less or more desirable, but I want to be correct.

So I am informed I was incorrect. It is a M 20. Sorry for the confusion. I was not trying to confuse anyone, I'm just made a mistake.

P3C30A

P=Muncie I believe that all Muncies start with a "P".
3=1973
C=March
30=30th Day
A=M20

Hope that helps, Kurt

On a side note.....a M20 is the perfect street trans. It has a 2.52 first gear versus a 2.20 that the M21 & M22 have. The 2.52 is easier on the clutch at stop signs......
