Center caps - really nice
$265 obo, plus shipping.
The 4 center cap chrome sections were purchased from Vintage Parts inc in 2015. The guy at the GM parts counter said GM sells their ready to be discontinued parts to them so they came in GM boxes.
The stainless dishes are a combination of 2 NOS and 2 nicely used.
I honestly think you could buy an NOS set that looks exactly like what im selling here because I’ve bought NOS caps and they aren’t perfect.
Anyway, i have taken a picture of the biggest flaw i see in the stainless dishes.
Price is what i paid for the caps, so I’m throwing in the dishes for free.

The cap is the ornament. The chromed, painted center section with the ribs.
The dish is the stainless steel outer ring held on with 4 screws.
I believe the dish part was slightly different in 68. I've read that it didn't have a small step on the inside of the outer lip.

There is a lip here that I don't believe existed on 68 examples.
I had one I got in a set of caps that had one distinct bend and that was it. I took that to be a 68.

Hi
That may only apply to early 68 caps.

I am going to start something...
The assembly line caps are different than the ones available after the FIRST BATCH of caps.
When there was a re-order or replentishment the original ornament was polished and then used as the pattern for the mold, the polishing removed some of the crispness of the original and also removed the "point" in the center of the cap changing it into a dome...
If you reach down on an original derby cap 68-72 and lightly run your finger over the center round area you can feel a peak point... THIS IS ON EVERY ORIGINAL LOW MILEAGE CORVETTE CAMARO NOVA AND IMPALA which has it's original derby caps.
The caps were originally tooled using a lathe and wooden patterns. I have photos and will post when I have a chance.
