Please help. I am trying to buy some radial (driver) redlines for my '69 with stock 8" ralley wheels. Does anyone know if Coker's 205/75/15 redline's will fit on an 8" wheel. They say they will, but also say this size fit up to 7.5" wheels. Has anyone put these redlines on your '69. Or can you recommend any other radaial redlines? I want to drive the car, so I'm not interested in the Coker repro F-70 bias redlines. Thanks alot.
Coker makes their classic radials (whiteline, redline, and goldline) in a number of different sizes. Personally, I would go with the 225/70/15 for an 8" rim. I had this size on my last car ('72) and they looked great. For comparison:
As you can see, the 225/70 is only a smidge wider than the F70, yet it retains virtually the same overall diam. The 205/75 also retains the same diam., yet personally I think it would look too skinny on a '69 with an 8" rim. The 205/75 would be more correct as a radial replacement on the '68 with it's 7" rim.
Thanks KCMK. Someone else told me the exact same thing yesterday. It's good to get confirmation. I love the look of redlines, but want the versatility of radial tires vs. redline bias ply.
