if you dont want to read about "do verts attract more girls"...
dont click on it...its that simple...
if you think a thread sounds stupid or uninteresting...DONT CLICK ON IT.

if your thread ends up 2 or 3 pages down...just ttt it.
is it really that hard to get to the bottom of a page and click on the next page?

just look at the examples that i posted earlier from the divided C5 forum and you will plainly see that it will not be as easy as you think because general posts will be in tech and tech posts will be in general...

you will just have 2 or 3 or 4 places to have to look for what you want to see...i dont understand why some members cant see that...
its right there to see for yourself...

and what is so hard about clicking on the topic that you are trying to do some research on instead of spinding half your day trying to find a post that is over a month old and 10-12 pages deep in OT posts. i spent over a day trying to find a post about fuel filler doors the other day with no luck and finally decided to post the next morning after anouther 3 hours of not being able to find it. i just dont see how hard it would be to find something about my engine under an engine topic and something about my suspension in a suspension topic. i think its a great idea the library has been doing it for years. you know different sections for different subjects. just sounds to easy i guess.

As for winning, it's not about winning, it's about making the forum a better place and not the cluttered mess it is now. I don't care about winning a vote, I care about being able to find the interesting topics amongst the heap of OT stuff posted here.

And who the hell are you calling me a whiner and a little kid, what's wrong with you man, got out of bed with the wrong foot? Lighten up ... you're over reacting and taking this whole thing way too serious. Who's the little kid now? Go run to your mommy and tell here it's not fair.
Hey TT good morning. I got one Lets split it SB BB That ought to get everyones pantys bunged up.Guys lighten up ,Whatever is decided it is to improve the forum.I myself would like to see more of a custom side which includes anything not original. Then you could have a original area for those wanting info and or displaying what they have done or need to know how.A tech side could answer both factory and modded questions .I for one am very computer inept so I know I miss alot of interesting posts. To me the way it is set-up is not worth my effort to tell about something im doing or post pics of it or my car and the post vanishes in a day.It takes me too long to get the pics send them to TT for posting just to see them gone in a day.I know thats the same for a lot of informative posts that get buried with absolutely stupid sh**.Please make it simpler for the computer inept.

My my my...I love these PREDICTIONS for how things will be after a split. Guess I know who to consult for the next lottery ticket!!!

If (and when) we DO split, the mods will be responsible for R&R (remove and relocate) of inappropriate posts in the tech section. And I, for one (and I know there will be MANY), will HAPPILY report any off topic or inappropriate thread to a mod in a heartbeat. That will torpedo any attempt by any anti-split people to subvert the new tech section.

How about this...a TRIAL SPLIT. Do it for a month. If it doesn't work out, go back to the current chaotic format. And like I said...the pro-split people will be keeping a VERY close watch on any attempts to
"prove" the split is a failure.

Dep...bowing to the Lord TT...oh great and mighty poobutt

i just took a break from the computer and went and did some chores around the house like i should be doing anyway...
while i was doing so, i did some thinking and i want to say that my appology is sincere...

i do not usually speak like i did and i was out of line...
again...im sorry...
i went back and changed a word or two for that reason...
i did not like the way that i felt about myself for posting in that manner...

although i love this place...there is a lot more to life than this forum and whatever yall decide is fine with me...i will not say anymore on the subject other than to say that it is not predicting the future...all you have to do is go to the other forums and look and you will see what i mean...
just go to the front page right now and look at some of the post titles and try to decide if they were your post, where would you put them...?
there are a lot of posts that are not plainly one catorgory or another...

i have found friends on this forum...some of which i have met and/or spoken with on the phone etc...and i am sincerly sorry for my eariler remarks...
i hope that i will be forgiven as that is not the kind of person that i am...
thanx and peace to all here...

Com'on guys, let's try it.

I think a lot of good topics fall off of the screen and die because they are consumed by OT post. BTW I haven't seen any mass efforts to delete one or more of the available sub-folder sections on the C-5 or C-6 forums.

I think a General C-3 section like we have now can still be enjoyed by all and is great, but I still think there is room for a Tech/ Performance addition like the later model guys have. If having this limitation of just a General C-3 was an asset I would support it, but it is not.

I enjoy a lot of the OT stuff posted here and we are a family in this forum, but sometimes I see post that would be participated in much more if it remained available without being pushed down by a "What Color" post.

I also think it would ease the atmosphere in General Post as well. I believe this will be a good addition to our C-3 Section. Let's try it.

If you don't want to post or read in the Tech/ Perf Section then just don't go there. If you do, then you will see that it is an easier way to keep up with what's going on and to let interesting threads continue without losing them from the screen.

Many of us work Jobs that have no access to the forum and only have certain time periods a day to participate. Many cubicle boredom post are entered everyday that pushs something interesting down. Then they fall away because some of us miss them completely.

I have several other interest that I follow on much smaller boards than this forum and even they have categories to post under that makes things much simpler to navigate. The C-3 forum is a great place and I have made many friends here. I want to continue to have the General Section to have casual conversation, but we still need a Tech Section to use for Technical Threads that may continue for several days without being strangled to death by OTP.

Exactly why this probably won't happen regardless what this "vote" determines. I don't know what if any compensation the mods receive but my guess is they have an income and life beyond the CF.

I for one am for the split. Its not that people that want tech dicussions are ''big egoed'' people, its that they want to have an informative discussion and learn how to better their cars. I for one want more suspension and steering tech discussions, but everytime there seems to be one it gets pushed off the page by, ''How old are you'' or ''I got a wave from a C5''. I admit getting a wave from a C5 is kind of rare it doesnt really require a whole new thread.

I think it would be better to create an ''Advanced Tech'' discussion that goes indepth into topics. The problem I could see with creating a normal tech discussion is people would think ''What wheels should I get'' would fit in a tech discussion which would in my view not fit. The mods would have more work to move threads around but I would be the first to sign up to be a mod and help out the forum in anyway I could.

Change will always be frowned upon by some for better or for worse. Why be afraid to take a chance on a new format on a trial basis. If we find it to be inconvenient, time consuming and confusing, then we can always switch back to the original layout.

Taking cheap shots at other forum members isn't going to solve anything (I realize I'm as guilty of this as anyone) it's only going to cause resentment and a lack of enthusiasm towards an otherwise informative and entertaining forum.

ddecart and GDiana,

we now have a total of 237 votes and the "I's" have it by a big majority. The last time a major vote was taken we had 109 to 99 against with a total of 208. I wouldn't think we are going to have many more votes so i wanted to put the question to you guys before this drops into oblivion.

We understand the forum owner is under no obligation to do anything, but i think this vote reflects the will of the users here.

What do you guys think?

I'm new to this forum, and am still amazed at what I have found. I am currently putting a 68 327/350 411/4sp roadster back on the road, and I find something relevant everytime I log on. However... I have only so much time I can spend in the evenings sorting through all the posts, and I have therefore put in my vote for the split. Frankly I doubt that I would ever even log on to the non-tech side. It seems that most of the posts reflect that opinion, but the vote tally doesn't follow. Wonder why that is? Being new to this I am probably just missing something, but why would anyone object to the split?
Ed
Forget that last question. I went back and read all eight pages of posts and I get it now! Whew!! I notice even the straight tech proponents aren't above doing a little BSing. Hopefully they can get that out of their systems on a separate forum, otherwise I suppose the split will just become another general forum for the tech guys!
Ed

SIGNGUY: No hard feelings
And I can SURE say "been there done that" (as everyone will verify).
I think all of us get VERY worked up about the C3 Forum BECAUSE we like the forum and the car so much. So passionate reactions are to be expected.

PROSOUTH: Well said Jim!!!! You and I have differed a few times in the past (a few???), but you sure nailed it with that post.

jdmick: If another mod is needed for the tech section, one who has the time AND is willing to make the effort, I have NO doubt he could be found very easily (hint hint....nudge nudge..know what I mean?)
Consider my application as having been tendered

CrossedFlags77: You bring up an interesting point. But you word your question wrong. "What wheels should I get" would NOT be a tech question if it were ONLY concered with "which wheels are prettier". But "what wheels would FIT" COULD qualify as a tech question.
That question has been posted a zillion times already and it SHOULD be located in a FAQ secion or on file for reference somewhere on the forum. And thanks for applying for the mod position

Turbo-Jet: What turtlevette said...excellent example!!!

turtle: I agree....time for the mods/bosses to give this SERIOUS consideration. And I DON'T mean a casual dismissal or thread lockdown.
We have the votes. We have the volunteers for mod duty (if needed). We have the proposals. At the very LEAST, we deserve the CHANCE to see if this thing will work.

I'd vote YES too, but then the whiners would be asking to split
tech into engine and suspension.
Where does it all end !?!?!?

Well, it was nice knowing some of you. Come on back to the Gen section
if you ever want to chat.
BTW - It's official ... a split is coming.
