Shipping a transmission.. Where can I get a approprate shipping box/crate?
I haven't found the right crate for my TKO which I want to ship ASAP.. What type of place could have a crate/box that would hold up to the weight of the tranny (110 lbs or so)???
I want to ship Fedex. They accept up to 150 lbs, so, including the box/crate, I should still be below 150 lbs..

I just thought of something.. Maybe Home Depot would cut it for me if I buy the wood there..

Maybe you can cut it with your dremel.

I sent my Diff to Van Steel in a cardboard box. It was a heavy duty box and I lined the bottom with another box that I cut to fit the bottom. The weight was right at around 90 pounds. The box worked great. I packed it with a lot of newspaper and the rest of the box I cut up to line the bottom. I'd call FedEx or UPS and see if you can use the pallet. Then you can find a box and attach it over the tranny/pallet. I see shipping boxes like that all the time at work.

Hi
Keisler send the TKO500 in a cartoon box by UPS overseas. Actually very thick cartoon, but the tranny was still damaged. One attachment bolt lug was dented and cracked.
I would also only considder a wooden box.
I will see my T56 the 15th Feb when I visit Seattle. Will let you know how it was crated by D&DPerformance for 200 USD shipping/handling charges from MI to WA .

Around here Home Depot gives you on cut free and other cuts are 50 cents each. Design up a box made from a 4x8 sheet of 3/8's plywood and 1x2 or 2x2's on the corner edges. Glue and nail the tranny coffin together. I'm assuming you don't have a VSR drill for screws either.

I was just at Publix, and I saw a bunch of nice heavy-duty banana boxes
That should be within your budget
