there is a device mounted on the rear of the Tach on my 71. It has vacuume lines connected to it. Does anyone know what this is? I want to replace it while I have the tach out.

Wiper door control "relay". Electrically connected to the Wiper Switch and Vacuumly (?) connected to the Wiper door control valve. I hear they fetch HUGE dollars if you can find one.

Yep, wiper door relay. Dr Rebuild had them. 2771407 is his part no.

Oh no, his website says he is sold out. You could probably use a big-truck fan solenoid. Try your local big-truck parts department. (Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, Volvo, International, Freightliner, etc.)
