Biggest headache is diconnecting from the rear of the speedo gauge cluster.

If you can twist your body just the right way while laying on the floor board, you can disconnect from the speedo fairly easily. I've done this about 5 or so times and have it down. You can only get one hand up in there, and you have to press down on a locking tab while pulling on the cable at the same time. The tab locks the cable to the back of the speedo.

Frankenvette describes it perfectly. Just get the cable housing to move out a bit after you press down on the clip - all done with the same hand! I press the clip towards the back of the speedo while using a pair of fingers to pull out on the housing. You will feel it let go and begin to slide off. Then go under the hood and carefully pull the entire housing out through the firewall. Work your way down the firewall and to the tranny. Start the new cable and housing (yes - best to just replace them together!) up from the tranny being sure to mount it as you found the old cable...

And if you're big like me...
Take out the drivers seat...
Also have a wireless phone handy for friends to extract you after an hour in that position

thanks for the suggestions, put the new cable in yesterday, what a pain, had to lower the steering wheel , and take out most of the dash. the old cable was so bad I could not get the cable out of its sleeve. It works good, now if only I could get my clock to work, its works out of the car but not installed....................Thanks..... .....LT
