I have a 71 Lt-1 that currently has valve covers mounted so that oil cap is on passenger side toward the front and the emblem is on the drivers side toward the firewall. I am wondering if this is possibly inverse of correct positioning. (i.e. should the cover with the emblem be on passenger side with the emblem part forward and the cover with the oil cap be on driver's side with the oil cap toward back of car?)

Unfortunately, I have recently seen pics of other LT-1's with it both ways, so I am a wondering which is correct. (although, if I had to place money on it, I would wager that mine are backwards). Anyone know for sure?

Yours are backwards. The correct is the oil fill on the drivers side.

Gordonm is correct. Oil fill cap goes on driverside next to firewall.Emblem front passenger's side.

thanks guys, I suspected that was the case. At least that should be an easy one to correct.
