What should I set the timing at now that I have replaced the carb and went to vacuum dist? Seems sluggish I am going to try new plugs and wires and reset the timimg. Thanks Randy

Did you just change the carb and intake or were there any other mods?

I just changed the carb on my 79' to a Holly. There were two port outlets, side by side. The I one I chose to use for my vac. advance turned out to be the wrong one.

Get yourself a vacuum gauge and measure the inches of vacuum from the hose that's going to the distributor. At idle, (800 RPM) you should be sucking at least 12 inches of vacuum. If not, you're probably plugged into the wrong port.
