I had a similar problem speedo hand started jumping all over the place then nothing I replaced the bottom cable and test drove it. after about a mile it started doing it again so I decided to get it back to the house. Before I got home same thing nothing. The cruise didn't work anyway so I decide to bypass it. I bought A cable for one without cruise and installed it and it worked fine. If a new cable doesn't fix it I'd suggest taking a look at the cruise gearbox to see if that's the problem. Just a thought.

The criuse control transducer failure is a common problem. You just get a new one if it is shot. The cable needs lube some times.
Check the cable first and see if it is snapped. If it is still good, try lubing it up with a mixture of white grease and ATF.
