I`ve got a 75 l48 with performer intake,600cfm carb performer cam 204 210 at .050,dart-summit-heads,ported to match the gaskets. It`s got a 2500 stall tc & 3.70 rear, headers into true 2.5" duals, no cats or pollution control, with magnaflow mufflers.
any guess on hp with this.
how about with xe268h cam
or magnum 270h cam
any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Need more info to pinpoint exactly, but my Desktop Dyno shows 373hp peak @ 5500rpm, & 411 tq. @ 4000rpm w/ 268 cam @ flywheel into headers w/mufflers. (Didn't know compression ratio, so I used 9.5 cr in the calculations......hope the info helps ).
Good???? They look SPECTACULAR!!!!! And that's why I don't trust those computer estimates.

The more known info you input, the more accurate your computer engine will be.....with Desktop Dyno, I used the specs of a known combo (my own 383) & the peak HP given matched mine exactly...(470 HP @ 5800 rpm).

So you just input parts and specifications and it gives you a rought idea
of what it SHOULD put out? The catch is it depends on how well the person building the motor, porting the heads, etc., etc., does the work.
The computer estimate is in an IDEAL build. Often real world numbers are much less. 373 HP out of a 600 CFM carb is being VERY generous.

I don't think the numbers are thar FAR out there. I would have thought it may have been lower, but I'm not a computer. Certainly isn't an Impala taxi engine anymore. Had this been someone starting with a 300hp or 350hp rated engine, the numbers would seem more in line with the results. However; since the engine started out as a L-48 175hp engine, some people naturally think it can't make horsepower. Most of the more intelligent forum members realize what the differences were between the mid 70 vettes versus the earlier ones. Some people just don't want to hear of a L-48 making over 350hp.

Yep...and some people live in a dream world. When they get to the strip...they face reality

And some other people live in their own world and can't see reality either. They are quick to knock something. Not because its not true or believable, but becuase they would have done it differently and their way is not only the best way but the only way.
How quick someone run on the strip does not determine the hp of an engine.

What good are horsepower increases if you don't USE them? The only
numbers that matter are the ETs. You can have 800HP, and if it doesn't hook up, it's all just so many worthless numbers.
