I drove the Vette to work today after finally sorting out some electrical problems. Sure is nice to be back on the road.
I did notice that as I pulled into the lot at work, the valve noise was substantially louder than it was after initial warm up. I have 1.6/1 roller rockers, and I'm used to them being louder than stamped steel, but I don't remember the valve noise increasing with engine temp. If anything, I'd have thought that things would quiet down because the parts should expand somewhat as they get hotter, decreasing the gaps between components.
Should I just go back and adjust lash when the engine is hot? I guess I'll cut an old valve cover, since I have tried the pushrod-twirling method when hot, and left some skin on motor.

you know i'm moving up to 10w 40 for the summer time.....10w 30 is good oil, but these are old technology engines...i guess try it and see if you like it.

Thanks!
Trying setting the valves with the engine running. Even without an extra set of cut up valve covers I was able to do it without making too big a mess of things.
