Lower radiator hose question

Default Lower radiator hose question
Did lower radiator hoses come from the factory with a spring inside?
My lower radiator hose is a little mushy at the water pump.

The spring should be a part of the lower hose. I have always used the "feel" test of any hose in determing whether or not to replace it. If yours is mushy I would replace it immediately and ensure that your replacement hose has a spring. If your replacement doesn't have one, you can salvage the old one.

FYI, BB lowers are 3 peices, I can't remember about the spring.

Also SB with AC are the 3 piece hoses. Mine has no spring.

My small block came with a three piece hose from the previous owner. I suspect he couldn't find a hose that worked and improvised.
