I am in the middle of trying to remove my strut rod adjusters. Everything was rusted solid, so I tried heat, cheater bars, ect. Finally snapped off one of the nuts then took the sawzall to the other. I have them loose to the point where I am able to turn the bolt with a wrench and move the cam. My problem is that I cannot get the adjuster bolts out of the holes. They seem loose enough to the point where they should come out. Am I missing something, or do I just need a bigger hammer? Any tips??
You need to have the leaf spring un-done at the wheels to remove tension from the strut rods. It also helps if you jack up the side you are working on so that the half-shaft is level. Then if it don't budge, get a bigger hammer!

I got them out using the above method, about a gallon of aero kroil, and a bigger hammer. Left a lot of skin behind though. Once I got them out I had the pleasure of seeing how crappy my strut rod bushings look.
my strut rod was rust-welded at the lower shock mount and had to use a torch and a large hammer. Now I have to get new ones at $38 ea. I feel for ya man.
Man I sure have some fully adjustable strut rods now. I got the camber all lined up, but still have too much negative camber on the drivers side after I took her around the block. I ran the cam's all the way in which makes no difference. I drove the car in reverse and got out to take a look, and the camber is perfect. I think I have a toe in/out problem. I found a paper on doing the the alignment. We took some measurements and sure enought the drivers side tire toe'd out. Step one remove the trailing arm shims. Holy Crap!!!. We worked all day, and am still on step one. They should just rust cars together. They would be indestructable. Good thing the old man was here. He is the king of leverage. We got the shims out, and I already ordered the stainless packs. I know the spring is original, and the strut rod bushing could be replaced, but do you guys think I am going down the right road?
