It turns out that I have an exaust leak at the exaust manifolds, and it's hard to tell but I'm guessing that the manifold is cracked. There is no gasket there (by stock specs) and I can't picture 28 year old manifold bolts "coming loose".

Will those be good for my '78? Are this a total bolt-in project? Just unbolt the manifolds (and exaust) and wrench in these headers?
Also, I want to just run the headers into glasspacks instead of a full exaust system. This should be fine, right?
Ideas/suggestions/solutions? Thanks!
I have Hookers on my '78 with great results. However, mine have air injection ports so my smog equip still works correctly.
The one's you've chosen have 3" collector diameter. Do you have 3" exhaust pipes? If not you'll have to get some welding / fitting done for those headers.
I am running Dynomax coated headers. Fit fine, except for a dimple @ the steering box. Every 'vette is different. Using TF angle plug heads without a problem.
Any headers you put on will not connect to the stock pipes. Pipes will have to be fabricated locally.
I'm not worried about the pipes after the headers. I'm thinking that I'll just put the headers right to glasspacks, as in no other pipes but the headers and the glasspacks. I won't need to worry about smog and AIR equipment. I'm going to run headers directly into the glasspacks. That should be mechanically fine, right?
I'm not sure what state you live in or it's inspection requirements, but in Texas if the exhaust pipes don't exit the body then it will never pass inspection. IMHO you should always have the exhaust exit the body.
I was over looking at the JetHot site and they had the listed headers but I couldn't find a price. Say I want those same headers I linked above ($161), what would they be through JetHot with their coating on it? Is it really even necessary to have them coated?

Just called about getting those Competions they want $342.03
Thats "coated inside and out with our sterling silver coating."
That cost included shipping for me.
CAUTION: He did say something about me getting a Military Discount so this price may not be accurate for everyone. ( I dont know if I got free shipping or some other kind of discount but just a word of caution. )
Sorry to say this, but headers straight to glasspacks (and nothing else) looks like
What do you mean?? It's on the underbody of the car. Shouldn't be visible unless you get on your knees and look under her.

That's alright, I'm in the military too. So it should be around the same for me..?
I was looking for something around the $200ish range. So I think I'm going to have to shy away from the coatings.
