Value of hood weatherstrip?
Well, I went out and put the weatherstrip on the hood - hoping that it would keep some of the heat out of the vent air.
But, now my engine temps are way past 200 degrees - I don't have the front air dam on the car. I don't think it would fit with the fiberglass nose.
So what are the benefits of this weatherstripping? I'm thinking of taking it back off. I like having the engine below 200 degress, here in Dallas.

Adam,
The biggest advantage is it keeps the 200 degree are from getting into your car thru the fresh air inlet. There is plenty of room for the air to get out of the car on the bottom side.

The hood weatherstripping really doesn't have anything to do with your cooling, but if your fromnt air damn is missing you'll get hotter temps than before with a dam. it's a neccessary piece of the cooling system. The factory repair manual states as much.

Smokehouse hit it right on the head. I think your water temp will improve if you have the right spoiler on. Then the air should come in under the bumper and go out through the gills on the side of the fenders.

Re: Value of hood weatherstrip? (Dalannex)
Dalannex, Killain, and Smokehouse hit it on the head. You absolutely must have the spoiler to direct air through the radiator. Absolutely ESSENTIAL. Also, you MUST have the seals around the radiator to make sure the air flows through the radiator, not around it. The fan on the water pump sucks air through the radiator...it doesn't "push" it out. That's why the shroud is needed too. Hope this helps. Chuck

I agree with all of you about the lower air dam. But before the weatherstrip was on I had no
problems with the temps - here in Dallas 100 degree weather.
So are you saying that the only reason to have the weather stripping is to keep the hot air
out of the air intake port for the cabin? If so, I only use the MAX cooling point anyways.
