The L88 hood arrived yesterday,
and now sits bodaciously between the fenders of my '71. It is the long version, which I initially didn't like. After seeing it on the car, though, it looks really good. This hood was ordered through JC Whitney. I never would have thought I could get such a quality piece from that outfit. It goes to show the value of this Forum. A few people here mentioned getting good quality hoods from them. I agree. The fit and finish is excellent.
I should have the RPM Air Gap on in the morning. Will get a digital camera next week to take some pics.

Sounds good. Did you get the fresh air chamber on it? You know it's a matter of who makes it, not who sells it. Evidently Harwood makes it.

I bought my long style hood from Ecklers and it sounds like I probably got hosed. Does your long style hood require you to use the chrome trim tabs on the fenders where they line up with the hood at the windshield. Ecklers says I have to reuse the chrome tabs. Thanks

My hood does have the cold air box already installed. I am not sure I follow the question about the chrome trim at the base of the windshield...
And I am sure Ecklers makes a great hood. I just felt like the savings was worth it to go through JC. Contemporary Cars in PA makes the hoods for them. They are made to order, so I had to wait 5 weeks. It was shipped direct from the factory. But at $399, it was worth the wait.

I suspected it was contemporary stuff. The sales rep told me it was legendary cars but I couldn't find anything on them but found contemporary. Now I know for sure :D
