If you tach and speedometer are in working order you can take a cruise down the highway in 4th gear(1to1) and note the rpm at 60mph. measure the diameter of your rear tires as well. Now you will have the nessisary variables to determine your gear ratio. then go to this calculator and enter the variables and select solve for gear ratio.

it may not produce a ratio that is exact to the available listed gear ratios but it should be close enough for you to determine what you have IE 3.08 or 3.36 ect.

I beleive standard was a 3.55 upgrade was a 3.70
My 79 L-82 at 70 in fourth is turning 3500 rpm with p255/60-15 and a 3.70
